Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a condition caused by pressure on the median nerve, which runs from the forearm into the hand through a narrow passage in the wrist called the carpal tunnel. When this tunnel becomes narrowed or tissues around it swell, the nerve gets compressed, leading to pain, numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and fingers. It is one of the most frequent nerve disorders of the upper limb and can significantly affect daily activities if left untreated.
What is the Carpal Tunnel?
The carpal tunnel is a small, rigid passageway in the wrist made up of bones and ligaments. It contains:

- Tendons that help bend the fingers
Because the tunnel is narrow, any swelling or inflammation inside it can increase pressure on the nerve.
